THE WHITEHURST SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP - Established 2012
Background:
The Whitehurst family were integral in the formation of West Side Alliance Soccer Club operations, functions, processes, and grassroots development.  Laura ('85) and Cecelia ('87) both played for WSA Soccer on some of the first teams at WSA.  Mrs Whitehurst served as the club treasurer and primary administrator for the time period circa late '90s to early 2000's.  Mr. Whitehurst served as a webmaster, tournament scheduler, and board member during the same time frame.  Both were instrumental in launching the club's first WSA Cup tournament hosted in 2000, and then sustaining the event through it's infancy years.  The event has been held since. Both Mr. and Mrs. Whitehurst, continue to occasionally stop by to catch a soccer game.  I

In 2011 WSA Coach and parents, Greg and Kim Hamilton and family (Michael '95, Katelin '98, and Thomas '03) helped seed a scholarship fund for WSA Soccer, and the club voted to honor the Whitehurst family by adding their family namesake to the annual award.  It was fitting for a family who advocates for ongoing learning and education, and helped link WSA Soccer's on field purpose to it's WSA College Search purpose, which has evolved into one of the top College Search programs in the nation.
