MAJOR TOURNAMENT RULES

1. No Slide Tackling.
2. No Throw-Ins.  All touchline restarts are Indirect Kick-Ins.
3. Goalkicks taken from anywhere on "endline".
4. All Free Kicks/Restarts are "Indirect" except Penalty Kick & Corner Kick.  Note: At Referee's discretion a penalty kick may be awarded for any infraction the referee believes had deliberate intent to stop a goalscoring opportunity.  Pentalty Kicks are taken from the halfline, with all players on both teams located behind the halfline.  The penalty kick is NOT a "live ball" and the kick is over once the referee deems the ball is in the goal, out of play, and stopped in motion.  The appropriate restart will take place pending the outcome of the penalty kick.
5. Goals Scoring:  Goals may only be scored from a touch (offensive or defensive) within the teams offensive half of the field: The touch cannot be touching the mid/half line and the touch of the ball must be clearly inside the attacking half of play..
6. Length of Games: 2 Halves of 12 Minutes Each Half (Note: game does not end at 12 goals as stated in rules). 90 second half time strictly enforced.  If a team is behind by 12 goals and wishes to end game, the team behind may call the game (coach may execute this decision by informing the referee and signing the game card).  This will not invoke a forfeit process for the team losing by 12+ goals.
7.  Halftime break - 90 seconds.  2nd Half begins strictly at 2 minutes after halftime whistle.
8.  Points Per Game:  Win = 3 points; Draw = 1 point; Loss = 0 points
9.  Box Rule:

  • THE BOX:  The "box" near the goal is defined by the space inside the lines of the box and the lines of the box (the same as the 18-yard penalty box is defined by the space and the line).
  • BALL TOUCHED IN BOX BY DEFENDER:  If a defending player touches ball in box then a penalty kick is awarded.  If the referee deems the defending player prevented a goal by "saving" the ball from "possibly" going into the goal then a goal is awarded.  This is ENTIRELY to the referee's discretion, and all athletes, coaches and spectators agree to abide by the referee's sole discretion in this matter.
  • BALL TOUCHED IN BOX BY AN ATTACKING PLAYER:  If an attacking player touches ball in box it is a goal kick (taken from end line).

10.  Standings Tiebreakers:

  • 1st Step: Head to Head Competition
  • 2nd Step: Goal Difference Up to 6 GDF per game.
  • 3rd Step: Goals Scored Up to 6 per game.
  • 4th Step: Goals Allowed Up to 6 per game.
  • 5th Step: Ejections (note, cautions are not calculated in this step).
  • Penalty Kick Tiebreaker (Best after 3 shooters, then sudden goal, must recycle shooters after 3 shooters, 1st shooter can be 4th shooter, 2nd shooter can be 5th shooter, etc)
  • IF NECESSARY due to logistics the tournament committee may utilize a public coin toss to determine a tiebreaker.
  • CLARIFICATION: If more than 2 teams are tied, then the tiebreakers will be reapplied in order if after application of all steps, prior to Penalty Kick Shootout, one team is eliminated.
  • CLARIFICATION: If after applying all steps of the tiebreakers, then more than 2 teams are still tied, the tournament committee will execute a 3-team coin toss.

11. Overtime Rule:

  • Play 3 minute "Sudden Victory" period
  • If still tied: Penalty Kick Tiebreaker (Best after 3 shooters, then sudden goal, must recycle shooters after 3 shooters, 1st shooter can be 4th shooter, 2nd shooter can be 5th shooter, etc)
