TURKEY MOUNTAIN HAUNTED TRAIL SUCCESS!

TURKEY MOUNTAIN HAUNTED TRAIL SUCCESS!

TULSA -   WSA Soccer partnered with Tulsa's RiverParks Authority for the 5th year to host the Turkey Mountain Haunted Trail.   The community engagement endeavor includes a Haunted Trail, Zombie Paintball, and Kid's Trail.

The Haunted Trail is a spooky 1-mile trek through Tulsa's Turkey Mountain with 15-20 different Scare Stations throughout.  The stations are manned by WSA Youth Soccer Players, Alumni, Coaches, and Parents.   Tour guides lead the customers through the 20-minute spooky experience.  This year, Jenks High School Distinguished Honor Graduates volunteered as tour guides.

The Kid's Trail is a smaller 1/4 mile loop through a lighted forested area, which includes friendly Halloween Characters handing out candy, as well as interactive games throughout.

The Zombie Paintball activitty, invites challengers to 80-rounds of paintballs to shoot at Zombies, which are played by WSA's older aged teams, pro-am teams, coaches, and this year a referee!  The adrenaline rush activity has proven to grow in popularity.

The ENTIRE activity is the creative brainchild, and a labor of love for Founder, CEO, and Director of the Turkey Mountain Haunted Trail, Matthew Weeks.  Coach Matt Weeks formerly coaches the WSA 2004 Boys and now continues to serve at WSA Soccer on the Field of Dreams Committee and recently as the leader of the Turkey Mountain Haunted Trail.  Coach Weeks builds the ENTIRETY of the trail, each scare station, completes all of the lighting, special effects, and is the producer and director of the entire event each night.

2024 was the 5th year of the Turkey Mountain Haunted Trail, which was a record setting year.

Each night 70-100 people manned the trail from WSA Soccer, resulting in 280 - 400 man hours of effort each night.  This equated to over 3,000 volunteer man hours across the 2 week operation.  And thanks to great weather, and increased word-of-mouth this year's activity sold over 4,000 tickets!  It was truly a record-setting year!

Most important, WSA athletes participated in a community service and engagement project, while cooperating and collaborating inside a team setting.  The magnitude of the reach of the Turkey Mountain Haunted Trail is far beyond the deepest trails into the famous Turkey Mountain.

Thank you to our founder, leader, and chief, Matthew Weeks!  Thank you to all of the participatns and volunteers from Jenks High School and WSA Soccer.  Thank you to RiverParks Authority for the gift of the opportunity to promote such an event.  Thank you Tulsa and beyond for helping bring this endeavor to life!
