WSA ANNOUNCES SOCCER CITY SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD, WHITEHURST SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

SOCCERCITY SCHOLARSHIP FOR WSA SENIORS
WSA ANNUAL WHITEHURST SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION OPEN

WSA Soccer is excited to announce a new addition to the Annual WSA Scholarships available to WSA players, the 2022 SoccerCity Senior Scholarship.  This award of $1,500 will be provided to one male and one female player from WSA Soccer towards their college expenses.  To be eligible a player must have completed their senior year of high school, be enrolled in college for Fall 2022, and be an eligible WSA member.

Kerry Shubert, SoccerCity General Manager, offered, "Soccercity values effort on and off the field. Soccercity is honored to provide a scholarship to a senior boy and girl, helping them achieve their goals of going to college."

The WSA Scholarship Application also includes the
Annual Whitehurst Senior Scholarship, provided to one male and one female WSA player each year.   This award is available to any WSA graduating senior or a WSA alum currently enrolled in college courses for the upcoming semester.  This award has been a tradition since 2011, honoring the Whitehurst family who contributed mightily to the founding and origins of WSA Soccer Club in the formative years and daughters Laura ('85) and Cecelia ('87) players in the club.  The seed money for the award was presented by the Hamilton family in 2011 with the idea to sustain the award into future generations.  Three children, Michael ('95), Katelin ('98), and Thomas ('03) participated in WSA Soccer.

Deadlines for both WSA scholarships are
July 10th

Any WSA Senior player can apply by visiting the
WSA College Search Page.  Applications are completed online and reviewed by a WSA Scholarship Committee assembled from WSA Executive Council Members, who do not have children eligible, and are not on the club's coaching staff.  The applications will be reviewed and recipients announced and notified after July 10 and prior to August 1.

"WSA Soccer continues to be honored to have such kind and generous benefactors who value the efforts of players, and have vested interests in the long term outcomes of the players as people.  It is a fantastic culture and community of people to be a part of.  It is truly great to be able to honor the work of our players who commit energy and make sacrifices towards their own ambitious plans to impact our community for future generations," Roger Bush, WSA Executive Director.
